Aims & objectives

GIY's vision is for a healthier, more sustainable and more connected society and is open to people interested in food growing at all levels, from growing a few herbs on the balcony to complete self-sufficiency, from beginners to old hands. We inspire and empower people to grow their own by bringing them together in community groups and online to share tips, ideas and produce. There are approximately 100 GIY groups and 12,000 people involved in the movement around Ireland.

The Tramore group, was founded in April 2009.

As well as monthly meetings, GIY Tramore is supporting the three local primary schools in developing their school gardens, it has facilitated the formation of the Tramore Allotments Association and has "adopted" a bed from the council at the junction of the Branch Roads to serve as a model of what can be produced in a small space.

GIY is a registered charity (CH 18920).
